Verbier is a village, a holiday resort and also ski area located in the canton of Valais, south-western Switzerland. The chalet-style village perches atop a sun washed plateau and provides views of the majestic mountain peaks. The ski resort is located 0.5 kilometres from the centre of the village.
There is no doubt it’s an expensive resort but with its superb skiing, international clientele, high-quality accommodation and phenomenal bars and restaurants, it’s most certainly worth it.
In the winter, Verbier truly comes alive with plenty of extraordinary runs to suit skiers of all kinds of abilities. It’s about a two-hour drive from Geneva airport, or you can take a train from the airport to Le Chable and then hop onto the gondola to the centre of resort.
This is the gateway to the 4 Vallées ski area – with nearly 100 lifts and more than 400 km of ski runs for all levels of expertise at your feet. The ski resort has seamless connections with the 4 Vallees ski area providing a massive total combined 410 km of marked runs. Contributing to the natural snowfall is the many snow guns and snow cannons blasting out artificial snow across the many pistes of Verbier.
There is plenty for non-skiers to do in Verbier including paragliding, ice skating, swimming, day spas, tobogganing, snow shoeing and dog sledding. Many clubs only come alive after 11pm so be prepared to miss first lifts. Après-ski and nightlife options are almost as infinite as the skiing choice but some of the best are right in the centre of town.

How to Get There
The nearest & best international airport is Geneva (GVA) which has easy transfers to Verbier via taxi, shuttle bus or train. Sion (SIR) airport is close to Verbier and is an option for travelers from London or Zurich.
The Swiss railway system provides a great way to get to Verbier. Train access from anywhere in Europe including direct from Geneva airport (2¼hr by train) and Brig can be easily achieved via Martigny. From Martigny, the St Bernard Express runs every 30min to Le Châble, where a gondola, bus or taxis will whisk you up to Verbier. Search & book train tickets to Le Chable & Vebier.
