Creux du Van
This natural giant amphitheater is about one kilometer in diameter and is caused by continuous water and ice erosion. It is a haven for mountain goats, marmots, deer, prey birds and nature lovers. You need to climb just 725 meters to be in the middle of a superlative arena.
The trail runs right down the edge of the “arena,” will gives you the impression of being in the front line. Asphalt mines is another major attraction of the valley, which stretches from Lake Neuchâtel crosswise through the Jura to the French border.
A 100 kilo meters tunnel system was established here between 1711 and 1986. One kilometer of disused mines is now accessible to tourists.
