Obwalden, also Obwald is the geographical center of Switzerland, formerly part of the canton of Unterwalden. Obwalden, one of the smallest cantons refers to the great forest of Kerns which is divided into two demi-cantons in the Middle Ages. Lively Traditions, culture and customs of Switzerland are purely maintained in Obwalden. Sarnen, 473 m above sea level is the capital of Obwalden.
