St. Moritz (San Murezzan) is a high Alpine resort town in the Engadine in Switzerland, at an elevation of about 1,800 metres above sea level. St. Moritz is located on the southern slopes of the Albula Alps below the Piz Nair overlooking the flat and wide glaciated valley of the Upper Engadine and eponymous lake: Lake St. Moritz. The town was also the birthplace of well-known Alpine winter tourism. There has hosted the Winter Olympics twice.
You should know about St. Moritz
St Moritz has been luring royals, celebrities and moneyed wannabes middle of 19th century. Most are surprised to hear that the town first gained fame due to its mineral springs. The minerals in St. Moritz were discovered 3000 years ago. It was the reason to be established the town as a summer spa resort. The town is priceless with its shimmering aquamarine lake, emerald forests and stunning mountains.
St. Moritz’s ‘house mountain’, the Corviglia, boasts the steepest start slope in Switzerland. It contains the Piz Nair Wall’s 100 per cent vertiginous drop. In the icy mountain all the guest will have fun and enjoy the sports such as, toboggan ride as well as traditional hiking and mountain biking. Apart from adventurous sports, the visitors can also try sailing, rowing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, tennis, minigolf or horse riding.
